The download area provides the contents of the CDROM delivered with the book. It contains:

• the circuit simulation software MicroSim PSpice Evaluation 8 with examples;
• examples for the digital circuits design suite Lattice ispLever.

Installing the examples for PSpice not only provides simulation examples but also replaces the original libraries with new libraries that have been designed to fully exploit the possibilities of the evaluation version of PSpice. The examples use the modell library TS.LIB and six symbol libraries (TSE_<name>.SLB) to circumvent the limitations of the evaluation version to a certain extend. For example, the libraries provide special modells for operational amplifiers which do not use transistors and diodes and preserve the respective component budget of the evaluation version.

Why PSpice 8 ?
Meanwhile, PSpice 9 to 16 are available. Still, we use PSpice 8 because:

• The component budget is much more limited in PSpice 9 to 16 as it is in PSpice 8. Many of the simulation examples will not run with PSpice 9 to 16.
• The bias point calculation of PSpice 9 to 16 has an error which prevents DC convergence of certain simulation examples.
• The schematic entry tool of PSpice 9 to 16 is less comfortable.
